The Entry-Level Pharmacist is responsible for assisting in dispensing medications, ensuring accurate prescription handling, supporting patient counseling, maintaining regulatory documentation, and coordinating with healthcare providers. The role involves learning pharmacy operations, ensuring quality and compliance, and supporting clinical or therapeutic services depending on the organization’s focus.

The position is ideal for fresh graduates looking to start their career in pharma manufacturing, specialty pharmacy, therapeutic services, or clinical pharmacy support.

1. Prescription Handling & Dispensing

• Assist in reviewing and interpreting prescriptions for accuracy.
• Support safe, accurate dispensing of medications under supervision.
• Check dosage, drug interactions, and contraindications.

2. Patient Support & Counseling (if required by company)

• Provide basic medication guidance and answer patient queries.
• Educate patients on dosage schedules, storage, and side-effects.
• Assist in managing patient medication adherence programs.

3. Inventory & Supply Management

• Monitor stock levels, maintain inventory records, and check expiry dates.
• Assist in procurement and storage as per GSP (Good Storage Practices).

4. Regulatory & Quality Compliance

• Maintain documentation as per company SOPs and regulatory guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with GMP / GPP / NABH / FDA standards (depending on organization).
• Participate in audits and internal quality checks.

5. Clinical / Therapeutic Support (if company specializes in treatments)

• Support pharmacists or clinical teams in preparing therapeutic products.
• Assist in infusion therapy coordination (if part of specialty pharmacy services).
• Maintain treatment records, patient files, and medication logs.

6. Administrative Support

• Handle billing, insurance coordination (if applicable).
• Maintain patient records and prescription documentation.
• Communicate with doctors, nurses, and healthcare providers when needed.

Minimum Education

• D.Pharm (Diploma in Pharmacy) – acceptable for basic dispensing roles.
• B.Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) – preferred for clinical, manufacturing, and therapeutic pharmacy roles.
• M.Pharm / Pharm.D – advantage but not mandatory for entry-level.

Professional Requirements

• Valid State Pharmacy Council registration (mandatory for dispensing roles).
• Basic understanding of pharmacology, drug interactions, and dosage forms.

Technical Skills

• Knowledge of pharmacy software (ERP or dispensing systems).
• Understanding of GMP / GLP / GPP / regulatory guidelines.
• Ability to read prescriptions accurately.

Soft Skills

• Good communication and patient-interaction skills.
• Attention to detail and strong ethics.
• Ability to work under supervision and in a team environment.
• Time-management and record-keeping skills.
